Creating Your Account

Signing up for Tavrn is fast, free, and painless. Here’s everything you need to know.

Before You Start

You’ll need:
  • A valid email address
  • A password you’ll actually remember
  • About 2 minutes of your time

The Sign-Up Process

Go to the Tavrn homepage

Open Tavrn in your browser and click the Sign Up button. You’ll be taken to the registration page.

Enter your email address

Use an email you have access to. You’ll need it to verify your account and for password resets down the line.

Choose a strong password

Pick something you haven’t used elsewhere. A mix of letters, numbers, and symbols is always a good idea.
Tavrn supports multi-factor authentication (MFA). We strongly recommend enabling it after you sign up for extra security.

Verify your email

Check your inbox for a verification email from Tavrn. Click the link inside to confirm your address.
Don’t see it? Check your spam or junk folder. Still nothing after a few minutes? You can request a new verification email from the login page.

Set up your profile

Once verified, you’ll be walked through the profile setup, choose your username, add a photo, and write a short bio. This is covered in depth in Setting Up Your Profile.

Choosing Your Username

Your username is how other people find and mention you on Tavrn. A few things to know:
  • Usernames must be unique across the entire platform
  • They’re case-sensitive in display but matched case-insensitively when searching
  • You can change your display name without changing your username
  • Use @username to mention people in messages
Choose your username thoughtfully! While you can update your display name freely, changing your username may affect how existing friends and communities recognize you.

Signing In with Steam

Prefer not to use email? Tavrn supports Steam login, you can authenticate using your existing Steam account.

On the login page, click 'Sign in with Steam'

You’ll be redirected to Steam’s login page.

Authorize Tavrn

Steam will ask you to confirm that you want to give Tavrn access. Click Authorize.

Complete your profile

After your first Steam login, you’ll be prompted to set up your Tavrn username and profile, just like with email signup.

Already Have an Account?

If you’re returning to Tavrn or set up a second account before, just hit Log In instead of Sign Up and enter your credentials. Tavrn also supports multiple accounts, you can switch between them without logging out. Check out Managing Multiple Accounts for details.

Troubleshooting Sign-Up Issues

First, check your spam/junk folder. Email filters sometimes catch automated messages. If it’s not there, wait a few minutes and try requesting a new verification email from the login screen. Still nothing? Make sure you entered your email address correctly during sign-up.
Usernames on Tavrn are unique across the whole platform. Try adding numbers, underscores, or a short suffix to make yours stand out. For example, if alex is taken, try alex_, alex42, or im_alex.
Head to the login page and click Forgot Password. You’ll receive a reset link via email. If you signed up with Steam, you’ll use Steam to log in instead of a password.
Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache. If the issue persists, try a different browser or check if there’s a known outage on Tavrn’s status page.
