All Cocoa Perks Explained

Cocoa gives you a bundle of perks. Here’s a thorough breakdown of each one, what it actually does, why it’s cool, and any nuances worth knowing.

🐾 Animated Avatar

What it is: Use an animated GIF as your profile picture. Why it’s cool: Your avatar shows up next to every message you send. A subtle, looping animation makes your presence feel more alive and expressive than a static image. It’s one of those things you don’t realize you want until you see it. The details:
  • GIF format, up to 25MB
  • Square dimensions recommended
  • Animation plays everywhere your avatar appears
  • If Cocoa lapses, reverts to first frame (still visible, just not animated)

☕ Cocoa Badge

What it is: A small badge on your profile indicating your Cocoa membership. Why it’s cool: It’s not flashy, just a quiet acknowledgment that you’re a Tavrn supporter. Some people wear it proudly, others barely notice it. Either way, it’s there. The details:
  • Appears on your profile card and mini profile
  • Disappears when your subscription expires
  • Can’t be earned any other way

🖼️ HD Media Uploads

What it is: Higher quality when uploading and sharing images. Why it’s cool: Standard users get good image quality. Cocoa users get better image quality, more detail preserved, less compression, sharper results especially for high-resolution photos and detailed artwork. The details:
  • Applies to image uploads in DMs and room channels
  • Particularly noticeable with high-resolution original images
  • Stored at higher resolution, delivered at higher quality

📦 Larger File Size Limits

What it is: More generous limits on how large the files you upload can be. Why it’s cool: Standard file limits are reasonable for most use cases. Cocoa pushes those limits up, so you can share full-res screenshots, longer audio clips, or higher-quality video without compressing everything first. The details:
  • Applies across images, audio, and video
  • Exact limits are clearly shown in the upload UI

✨ Rich Custom Status

What it is: Enhanced custom status options beyond simple text. Why it’s cool: Free users can set a basic text status. Cocoa members get a richer version, better presentation, more expressive formatting, potentially exclusive status emoji, and a status that stands out more on your profile card. The details:
  • Shows on your profile card and in friends lists
  • Emoji + text combination
  • Clears automatically if you want, or stays persistent

🎨 Exclusive Profile Themes

What it is: Access to profile customization options not available to free users, unique color schemes, themes, or visual treatments for your profile. Why it’s cool: Your profile reflects your personality. Having exclusive visual options means your profile can look distinctly you in ways other profiles can’t. The details:
  • Applied in Settings → Appearance
  • Three exclusive Cocoa themes: Cocoa Midnight (espresso dark with amber glow), Cocoa Ember (warm bronze glow in the dark), and Cocoa Latte (creamy warm light vibes)
  • Free users keep all standard theming options (Dark, Light, Midnight, Sunset, Forest, Lavender, Synthwave, Nord, Solarized Light, Cherry Blossom)

💾 Extended Message History

What it is: Unlimited, untruncated message history, all your past messages, always accessible. Why it’s cool: Tavrn stores message history for everyone, but for very active rooms or long-running conversations, there may be practical limits. Cocoa ensures there’s no ceiling, you can scroll back months or years without hitting a wall. The details:
  • Most useful in high-volume rooms and long-running DMs
  • Applies to rooms you’re in and your DMs
  • For most casual users, the difference isn’t noticeable, but for power users and active communities, it matters

The Perk Philosophy

A note on how Tavrn thinks about Cocoa perks: Every perk is either cosmetic (makes your experience look or feel better), quality-of-life (makes your experience work better), or both. None of them give you power over other users. None lock away features you need to participate. This is intentional. Tavrn believes in fair, feel-good premium, not gatekeeping.

What’s Coming

Tavrn is always working on new features. As new things are built, some may find their way into Cocoa. The plan is to keep adding value to Cocoa over time, so the longer you’re subscribed, the better it tends to get.
