Troubleshooting Common Issues
Something not working right? Here’s a collection of the most common issues and how to fix them.Before You Try Anything Else
Most Tavrn problems are solved by one of three things:- Refresh the page (
Ctrl+RorCmd+R) - Clear your browser cache, Settings → Privacy & Safety → Clear Browsing Data
- Try a different browser, Chrome/Edge tend to work best
Common Issues
I can't log in
I can't log in
Check your credentials. Caps Lock might be on, or you might be using the wrong email.Forgot your password? Click “Forgot Password” on the login page and reset via email.2FA code not working? Make sure your device clock is accurate (TOTP is time-sensitive). If you’ve lost access to your authenticator, use a backup code.Steam login failing? Try logging into Steam in your browser first, then try the Steam login button.Account suspended? You’ll see a message indicating this. Contact support if you believe it was in error.
Messages aren't sending
Messages aren't sending
Check your internet connection. Messaging requires a stable connection.Try refreshing. Real-time connections sometimes need a refresh to reconnect.Check if you’re in a room you’ve been removed from. If you were kicked from a room, you won’t be able to send messages there.DM settings blocked? If you’re trying to DM someone and can’t, their DM privacy might be set to restrict messages from non-friends.

Check the master toggle. Settings → Notifications should be turned on.Check browser permissions. Click the 🔒 lock in the address bar and ensure notifications are set to “Allow.”Check per-channel settings. Individual room channels can be muted (set to “Nothing”). Right-click the channel and check notification settings.On mobile? You may need to add Tavrn to your home screen and enable notifications at the OS level.

Images or files won't upload
Images or files won't upload
Check the file type. Supported image types: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF. Supported audio types: MP3, WAV, OGG, WebM, AAC, FLAC, M4A.Check the file size. Images: 25MB max. Audio: 50MB max.Check your internet. Large file uploads need a stable connection. Try a smaller test file to isolate if it’s a size/type issue or a connectivity issue.

Hard refresh.
Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) forces a fresh load ignoring cache.Disable browser extensions. Ad blockers and other extensions sometimes interfere with web apps. Try an incognito/private window (which disables extensions by default) to see if that’s the cause.Try a different browser. Confirms whether it’s a browser-specific issue.My profile changes aren't saving

Check for error messages, there might be a validation issue (e.g., an invalid hex code for your banner color).Try refreshing and making the change again. Occasionally a session hiccup can prevent saves.Check your internet connection. Profile saves require sending data to Tavrn’s servers.
Someone I blocked is still appearing in my feed

Blocking hides a user’s content where Tavrn can apply it, but in rooms you both belong to, some edge cases might exist. If you’re consistently seeing content from a blocked user that you shouldn’t, that’s worth reporting as a bug.

Try refreshing. If it’s persistent across sessions, check if you have Tavrn open in multiple browser tabs, both may be triggering notifications simultaneously.
Tavrn is very slow
Tavrn is very slow
Check your internet connection. A speed test at fast.com can confirm.Close other tabs/apps, Tavrn is a real-time app and competes for bandwidth.Try a different browser, Chrome and Edge tend to be the most performant for web apps.Clear browser cache, Old cached data can sometimes slow things down.
Still Stuck?
If none of the above solved your issue:- Check if it’s happening to others, Ask in a Tavrn room if others are experiencing the same thing. A platform-wide issue isn’t something you can fix on your end.
- Describe the problem clearly, Note what you were doing when it happened, what browser and OS you’re on, and any error messages you see.
- Reach out to Tavrn support, With that info in hand, support can help diagnose what’s going on.
Known Limitations
A few things that aren’t bugs, just current limitations:- Screen sharing on iOS Safari is not supported
- System audio sharing during screen share is limited on Firefox and not available on Safari
- Animated avatars require an active Cocoa subscription
- Push notifications require browser permission and may not work on all mobile browsers
