Signing In with Steam

If you have a Steam account, you can use it to sign into Tavrn, no email and password required. Here’s everything you need to know.

What is Steam Login?

Steam login uses OAuth, an industry-standard way for third-party services to authenticate you using your existing Steam identity. Tavrn never sees your Steam password; Steam just tells Tavrn “yes, this is a real, verified Steam user.” It’s secure, convenient, and fast.

First-Time Setup: Connecting Steam

1

Go to the Tavrn login page

Look for the Sign in with Steam button.
2

Click 'Sign in with Steam'

You’ll be redirected to Steam’s official login page (check the URL, it should be on steampowered.com).
3

Log into Steam (if you aren't already)

Enter your Steam credentials. Steam handles this entirely, Tavrn doesn’t see your password.
4

Authorize Tavrn

Steam asks you to confirm you want to authorize Tavrn. Click Authorize.
5

Complete your Tavrn profile

If this is your first time signing in, you’ll be taken through profile setup, choose a username, add a bio, etc. This is the same as regular signup.

Returning Users: Logging Back In

Once your Steam account is linked:
  1. Click Sign in with Steam on the Tavrn login page
  2. Authorize (Steam may remember your session so this is instant)
  3. You’re in

Benefits of Steam Login

  • No password to remember, Your Steam account handles authentication
  • Familiar flow, If you’re a gamer, you’ve done this a hundred times
  • No email verification, Steam’s identity is already verified
  • Quick login, Especially if you stay logged into Steam

Steam Login + Security

Your Tavrn security is directly tied to your Steam account security when using Steam login. Make sure your Steam account is well-protected:
  • Enable Steam Guard (Steam’s 2FA), This is Steam’s own two-factor system
  • Use a strong, unique Steam password
  • Don’t share your Steam credentials
If your Steam account is compromised, your Tavrn account can be too.
Steam’s own security hygiene becomes your Tavrn security hygiene when using Steam login. A weak Steam account = a vulnerable Tavrn account.

Switching Between Steam and Email Login

If you want to also be able to log in with email/password:
  • You may need to set a Tavrn password from Settings → Security & 2FA
  • Contact support if you’re having trouble associating both methods with the same account
